Francesa DeComyn BEd Hons, studied at Bournville College of Art, intending to become an illustrator. However, a love for teaching beckoned her – a career she enjoyed for 23 years. She is now pursuing her original dream; this commission – to do the drawings to be used by her husband Andy as the basis for the bronze plaques on the NMM – is particularly special to her as she had relatives who worked in the mines of South Wales.

During the construction of the National Miners’ Memorial many people saw Francesca’s drawings and asked if they could purchase them. Francesca agreed to a limited edition of 25 prints of each drawing; she signed and numbered each one.

This means that everyone who wants to can own their own special part of the National Miners’ Memorial which helps with its continued upkeep.
