Limited Edition of Print No. 7 – Pit Ponies
In 1887, Legislation protected ponies from abuse underground. They were clipped, washed and groomed daily. A record book kept in the stable recorded each pony’s daily duty, their health and who had taken them out to work and their condition when returned. Vets regularly checked their health
Bronze plaque No. 7 was sponsored by Leicestershire Coal Industry Welfare Trust
