Limited Edition of Print No. 2 – Mother & Daughter

Women and girls worked with men at the coal face and often carried coal out of the mine in baskets on their backs. Wearing inadequate clothing, many without shoes, injuries and deaths were common.  From 1842 it was illegal for women and girls to work underground.

The bronze plaque was sponsored by Craig Watts & Family
