This Print depicts a young boy of 12 – 13 years leaving the mine after a long day. He had probably been down the pit since the age of 6, regularly working twelve hour shifts in very harsh conditions. It was a tough life where children grew up very quickly.
The bronze plaque was sponsored by the NUM.
