Contact UsLimited Edition of Print No. 4 – Sisters
This is one of a pair of prints: 4 and 5
It was common for sisters to work together, often moving full coal tubs out of the mine. The sister at the front of the tub was known as the ‘Hurrier’. She wore a girdle and chain around her waist attached to the tub. Very painful to wear, their use was eventually made illegal.
The bronze plaque No 4 was sponsored by Jenny Dunn BEM & Robert Ford.
